Why does God allow positive, God honouring things to come to an end?
It might be a small group that concludes when people relocate. Or a pastor finishes his tenure at his church. Or good friendships decay due to extended absences.Or perhaps it is the death of a friend or family member who was an inspiration towards godliness.
Maybe this passage from Ecclesiastes can help:
Ecc 7:2 CEV It’s better to go to a funeral than to attend a feast; funerals remind us that we all must die.
When things or people we love die it tends to discourage us. When this earth fails to give us what we desire it can lead us to look upward and onward. Upward to the One who will satisfy forever and onward to the place He is preparing for us.
The more enjoyable our temporal life is the more likely we are to forget we are “pilgrims and strangers” passing through, looking for a new land to come.
